Carlson Estate Sales is engaged in the liquidation of model railroad estates, specializing in HO scale. The company acts as the agent for the estate owners, selling the estate items on consignment. The company ensures that the model railroad equipment offered for sale is: properly identified, labeled, tested, and fairly priced.

Model railroad items sold range from brand new products still in original packaging, through various conditions of used equipment, scratch-built models, assembled kits, kits, partially assembled kits or projects, electrical components, track, control systems, scenery items, vehicles, detail parts, hardware, and tools.

We also sell railroad books, photographs and railroad memorabilia such as timetables, advertising artifacts, and other railroad collectable items. Estate items are sold in “as is” condition, and carry no warranty other than that offered by the manufactures of the new unused equipment.

Mainline Photos sells black and white and color photos (8×10) of railroad equipment, including locomotives, caboose, freight cars, passenger cars, and maintenance equipment. We have also added non-rail photos of hot air balloons, military equipment, Great Lakes ships, and some intercity bus companies. We have been selling photos since 1969.

In addition to photos, we sell railroad books from Withers Publishing Co and Diesel Era magazine also from Withers Publishing. We carry a wide selection of back issues of Diesel Era

Miniature World

Miniature World offers a large variety of assembled, detailed, painted and weathered structures and industries. This brings a level of realism to your layout or collection. These are provided in scales N, HO, and O, O27. Miniature World also provides a selection of detail parts, vehicles, signs and decals.

Railroad Relics

Railroad Relics specializes in real railroad materials, such as RR dishes, silverware, paper timetables, RR sign logos, calendars, loco builders plates, and keys. Our model trains include 2-rail O scale, HO brass models and fine building kits. Railroad Relics is truly a Railroad antiques business and material varies as to what is made available to us.

RailWear by Rebel Rails

Celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year, Rebel Rails is the place to shop for railroad T-Shirts, coffee mugs, mouse pads, license plates, metal signs, and more. Rebel Rails supplies many railroad museum gift shops, including the Illinois Railway Museum and Steamtown National Historical Site.

South Side Trains has been a family owned small business since 2007 and specializes in HO and N scale products, train books, DVDs, magazines, modeler supplies, tools, and detail parts.  We sell new and used items and have an operating layout in the store. South Side Trains is conveniently located two blocks east of highway 43/94 and one mile north of Mitchell International Airport.

Star Hobby

Star Hobby is a hobby shop offering Lionel, Bachmann, LGB, Piko, and various other brands for sale “on tour,” as well as in a brick and mortar hobby shop. We deal with rockets, Thomas the Tank®, plastic models and die cast. We carry a full line of Kalmbach publications and Walthers products. We sell trains in G gauge, O, HO, N, and Z.

For Trainfest, we bring a complete line of Bachmann products, Tide-0Mark calendars, and Kalmbach magazines. Star Hobby has been in business for 25 years, and exhibiting at all the big five shows – Trainfest, the Big E, Greenberg, World’s Greatest Hobby, and the East Coast Large Scale and All Scale Shows.
