Frequently Asked Questions

What is Trainfest?
A 37-year tradition of exploring the wonderful world of model trains. I know it sounds like it’s a festival only for train fans, but it’s truly designed for everyone. Come November, for one weekend, model railroaders, families and the locomotively curious come from all over the U.S. to enjoy over 50 amazing running layouts, see new model railroad products, learn about the latest in technology, get great deals on products while kids get their faces painted and watch in amazement as each train passes by.

What are the ticket prices?  Are there any special offers?
Kids 14 and under are FREE when accompanied by an adult. Adults are $10, but if you click here and complete the short survey you will receive a printable admission coupon.

May I ride the model trains?
No, they’re models. But, we do have a life sized Circus Train Replica for kids to ride.

Is Trainfest stroller and wheelchair friendly?
Absolutely. We’ve designed our showroom with wide aisles that cater to such needs.

May I stand next to the scale models and pretend I am a giant?
Well, yes you may.

Are the layouts placed too high for my kids to see?
Most of our layouts are viewable for even the tiniest of tots. And, there’s so much to see. Your little ones will be entertained for hours!

Do you have a model train made entirely of Deli Meat?
No. That is a very weird question.

Is Trainfest only for collectors and model train enthusiasts?
Not at all! Trainfest is an experience to be enjoyed by all. Whether you’re a family with kids and grandparents and a third-cousin twice removed or an avid model railroader looking for new ideas, Trainfest is for you. Visit the About Us section to see what Trainfest is all about.

What do trains eat?
If you mean, “what do trains use as fuel,” it depends on the train. The steam locomotives used primarily coal; modern trains use diesel or electricity. Our model trains run on electricity.

What are model trains?
They are miniature replicas of life size trains.

Are they like baby trains?
Uhhh, I guess, yeah…sure. They’re like baby trains.
